The Veteran – self portrait – 1980

During the day, I am a software executive. Painting is a hobby.

In elementary school and high school I painted because I got good grades in art.

In college I painted because there was no other way I could afford live nude models.

When I raised kids I didn’t paint much – no place to leave the oils out without little hands getting into them.

Now I paint because it feels good at the end of the day.
